Fishing Ship Cooler
Fishing Ship Coolers
Fishing ships have large seawater coolers on board for cooling and freezing the fish. Such ships normally have duplex stainless steel seawater/ammonia coolers. The duplex stainless steel appears (not always) to be seawater resistant. Corrodium BV installs a cathodic protection system that provides protection of the expensive coolers.
Galvanic corrosion is a major issue at sea. On the picture: Titanium sheet heat exchangers electrically connected to Rilsan coated carbon steel piping. The Titanium behaves as noble as silver and it causes severe pitting corrosion to the Rilsan coated carbon steel.
