Materials and Corrosion Engineering in the Industry and Civil Sector
Stress Corrosion Cracking in a stainless steel 1.4529 pressure vessel in the process industry.
Corrodium BV uses microscopic investigations (metallography) in order to solve corrosion problems. On the picture: MIC (Microbiological Influenced Corrosion) in the heat affected zone of a stainless steel 316 weldment.
Corrodium solved hundreds of problems with the SEM/EDX technique. SEM means Scanning Electron Microscope and EDX is the instrument to make a chemical analysis of the SEM image. On the picture: Chemical mapping of a copper condensor tube on the elements Copper, Chloride, Oxygen, Carbon and Iron. Iron rust contamination of the copper surface caused leakage formation.
